Chepstow Cricket Club's home game against Croesyceiliog fell victim to the weather last Saturday (19th July) but the town's 2nd team had more luck. They made the most of a rain-affected game at Miskin Manor's Glyn Park ground to win the Glamorgan & Monmouthshire Division One 2nd XI fixture by two wickets. Robert Jones led the way with the ball for Chepstow after the away side won the toss and elected to bowl, taking two wickets and conceding only 12 runs in his seven overs. He was backed up by Tyler Morgan-Hugget, who took 1-29, Huw Rogers (0-45) and Amit Kriplani (1-30), who all bowled tightly. Oliver Thornhill effected a run-out as Miskin were restricted to 165-5 from their 34 overs, with George Harvey finishing unbeaten on 104 for the hosts. In reply, Kriplani hit 48, Oliver Thornhill scored 20 and Tuhin Gavand finished with 47 not out as Chepstow reached their target with eight wickets down and 10 balls remaining.
