A FISHING taster for children aged six and upwards proved quite a catch recently, with youngsters and their parents turning out in force in beautiful warm, early summer weather conditions.

They all caught and released a selection of coarse fish including gudgeon, roach, rudd, bream, tench, eels, common carp and mirror carp.

The event was held at Redhill Fishery near Monmouth by Redbrook Angling Club, and gave juniors the opportunity to receive free professional tuition from coach Nick Oakley, with the bait and equipment also provided free of charge.

It was sponsored by the Redbrook Village Trust, with funds raised at the 2014 "Live on the Wye" festival.

Redbrook Angling Club organiser Ian Childs said: "It was a great day out; everyone caught fish and went home with a smile, as well as a certificate of merit and goodie bag."
