MONMOUTH Cricket Club's Josh Grey has been recognised for his batting achievements this summer. Grey has picked up the Thomas, Carroll Glamorgan and Monmouthshire Cricket League player of the month award for July. He was presented with a bottle of champagne at Monmouth Sports Ground last week by league chairman Jonathan Wellington. Grey hit 289 league runs in four matches for Monmouth in July with knocks of 88 not out, 91, 87 not out and 23. He has scored a total of 683 runs in Division Three season this term, including five fifties and a century, at an average of 62.09. Grey is Monmouth's first player to collect a monthly award and had been nominated by the club's league delegate, Jon Despontin.
