The new Monmouth Petanque Club played its latest friendly away to a strong Ross-on-Wye team on 21st January.
Although Ross won by nine games to six it was a keenly fought, close and enjoyable contest.
In the pairs, Monmouth lost by seven games to two but in the triples Monmouth won by four games to two.
In the games, three Monmouth players were unbeaten – Len Humphries, Keith Biggs and Graham Pritchard.
The club and players have gradually and dramatically improved their game performances since the club started in May 2011.
The 2012 games planned against a number of south Wales clubs should prove that Monmouth is a club to be reckoned within the Welsh Petanque scene.
Although the club has only been playing for nine months it is always well attended by its members.
It is always looking for new players who can be coached by one of the three Welsh Petanque Association qualified coaches in the club.
Sessions are held at the Rockfield Community Centre in the winter months on Wednesday mornings and Saturday afternoons and Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons during the summer. For further information ring 01600 713766.
