Penallt Tennis Club had five teams in the Monmouthshire Cymu Kitchens League this summer.

The players certainly appreciated the occasional match that was played on a pleasant summer evening in proper tennis weather.

Needless to say many matches were postponed or played in damp or downright wet conditions.

The team captains certainly had a difficult season rearranging matches and are sighing with relief now that all have been completed.

Many club members have played in one or more of the various teams and thank you to them and to all the captains.

The Ladies team had the best results finishing on 23 points and as runners up in division 1. The Mixed B team finished midway in division 1 on 17 points.

The Penallt Men's A team also finished on 17 points. The Mixed A ended up 2nd from the bottom in the premiership on 15 points and the men's B team finished the season with 13 points.

Last Sunday (2nd September) the club held an adult American Tournament and fortunately 12 members turned up and the weather was perfect.

A good afternoon's tennis was had by all.

Steph Howell finished in first place with Nick Cann and Ginny Higgins tying in second place.

The photograph shows the weary players at the end of the tournament.

Next Sunday (9th September), the teenagers have their knockout tournament.
