Monmouth Netball Club recently held their annual Awards Evening at the Three Horsehoes in Monmouth, celebrating a sucessful season across the board. Monmouth First Team maintained their place in the Premier Division of the SE Wales Netball League, MonOnes were runners-up in The Wye Valley League with MonToos and MonThrees improving on the previous season. The Juniors also had a very sucessful first season in the SE Wales Junior Netball League. The Player Of The Match Awards were voted for by the opposing teams throughout the season – these were awarded to Holly Hall and Lisa Small, both shooters for Monmouth First Team, Nina Booker a shooter for MonOnes, Sophie Jones another shooter for MonToos and attacking player Anita Bevan for MonThrees. The Players' Player award was voted for by teammates after each game throughout the season – this was awarded to defender Vanessa Ball for Monmouth First Team and MonOnes, Sophie Jones and Tracey Hodgson shooters for MonToos and Hilary Phillips another shooter for MonThrees. Teammates also voted for the Most Improved in each sqaud which was given to Nina Booker in Monmouth First Team, centre court player Stefi Jenkins in MonOnes, defence player Lizzie Meharg in MonToos and center court player Mary Pardington in MonThrees. The final awards were voted for by the entire club. The Player Of The Year award for The SE Wales League was presented to Vanessa Ball, Player Of The Year for The Wye Valley League was given to Stefi Jenkins and Clubman was presented to Sally Price. Monmouth Netball Club Seniors are back in training and would love new players to join their friendly training sessions. The club trains on a Thursday night at Monmouth Leisure Centre and HMSG, covering all abilities including 'back to netball'.
