Jason Morgan followed up his superb result on the Woodpecker with another last weekend – taking third overall and first in class on the Red Kite Stages.
Morgan took over his dad Bob's entry at the last minute, in the Winner Garage Lancer Evo 6 with Ade Williams on the notes.
The Llandovery based event offered 40 competitive miles in just five stages, with double runs of Crychan, Cefn Llywdlo, and a single stage in the little-used Caeo Forest.
For Morgan who was looking to be in the mix for the win, it was a mixed event with a fastest and second fastest on a couple of stages but had overshoots on most stages and lost over 20 seconds on the final test when he went up a firebreak, but survived to take an excellent third overall.
"It was good and bad today, I am pleased with third but it could have been so much better, I must have dropped loads of time with overshoots and a trip up a firebreak, but we were still learning the car," said Morgan.
"We certainly had a few brake issues today, that said we were fastest on one stage, second fastest on another."
Running ahead of the modern event was the Red Kite Historic stages, the latest round of the WWRS RAC Championship.
This event attracted a high class entry, Simon Pickering and Colin Jenkins in the Dave Jenkins motorsport run Escort RS1600 were looking to continue their recent good run, and despite a couple of spins on the opening two tests, they were having a good run until stage four, when the engine started losing power.
They limped in to service back in Llandovery but went no further due to engine problems.
This weekend sees the 50th anniversary of the Manx International, the Isle of Man lanes have played host to some of the world's finest rally drivers over the last 50 years.
Fresh from his excellent result on the recent Ulster Historic rally Graham Waite will look to follow that up this weekend in his Opel Ascona with Gill Cotton on the notes, the three-day event offers 190 competitive miles on the bumpy Manx roads.
