Monmouth Cricket Club will be fielding a new Sunday development side this summer.

Liam Stubbs is the Sunday team skipper and plans to have a blend of youth and experience in the side.

Monmouth are hoping their newly-resurrected Sunday team will be playing the likes of Brockhampton in the GB Liners Marches Sunday League.

It promises to be another busy year for the border club, who re-joined the Cricket Wales structure 12 months ago after a 20-year exile.

Monmouth marked their return to Welsh cricket by winning the Thomas, Carroll Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League Division Three title. The club's second team finished runners-up in 2nd XI Division Three.

And Monmouth, sponsored by JD Wetherspoon and Ancre Hill Vineyard, will also be represented at the Monmouthshire Building Society's Junior League annual meeting, also at Croesyceiliog CC, on 31st January.

Monmouth will be running an under-9 soft-ball side in Herefordshire Youth Festivals and under-11, under-13 and under-15 youth teams in the Monmouthshire Junior League.

Martin Newell has been re-elected as club chairman for another term alongside respective first-team and second-team captains, Paul Swingwood and Dave Wilding.

But the club is  now looking for a new sponsorship/ fundraising co-ordinator.
