The competition involves ten running clubs from across Monmouthshire and Gwent, with around 250 runners taking part in five events around the South Wales region. The final course, called the Trellech Tease, took the runners through 10km of the best of the lower Wye Valley. The race was started near the Lion Inn by County Councillor Debby Blakebrough and had great local support, especially on the difficult midway hill climb in Catbrook.
The Spirit of Monmouth Ladies team finished the season with a very credible fourth position overall in the league with a string of individual medal places including Ruth Ward (third in the over 35s), Emma Davies (third in the over 40s) and Carol Anne Usher who took silver in the over 50s category.
The men's team came eighth in a close fought contest with only five points separating them from Griffithstown, Pont-Y-Pwl and Caerleon. Allan Meek took third place in the over 45s.
