Monmouth Cricket Club face Machen at the Sports Ground this Saturday (25th August) in a top-of-the-table clash.
Paul Swingwood's men are in pole position in the Thomas, Carroll Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League Division Three, while Machen are third.
Leaders Monmouth, sponsored by JD Wetherspoon, have just two league matches remaining – they host bottom-of-the-table Llantwit Fardre in their final game on 1st September.
Monmouth's scheduled match at Ponthir last weekend was a casualty of the wet weather which once again decimated the league programme.
With so many matches having been called off this season, the league could suspend promotion or relegation across all divisions at the end of the season.
However, David Wilding's Monmouth Seconds were among the few teams who beat the rain last Saturday and they remain second in 2nd XI Division Three after a seven-wicket home win over Ebbw Vale Seconds.
Spinner Aled Jones (3-8 from 10), Andy Bowley (3-16 from nine), Wilding (1-24) and Callum Philpott (1-29) were among the wickets as Ebbw Vale were restricted to 95-8 from 45 overs.
Ian Morgan then struck an unbeaten 57 and Richard Shaw made 13 not out as Monmouth Seconds, sponsored by the Jewel Balti, raced home in the 26th over.
Morgan picked up the Ancre Hill Vineyard man-of-the-match award and Monmouth Seconds are in action at fifth-placed Machen Seconds this Saturday (12.30pm start).
The match balls were sponsored by Mike Roberts and Marches League umpire David Williams.
Monmouth Cricket Club will be hosting a Gwent Under-15 representative girls' fixture on Thursday 30th August.
The 35-overs-a-side girls' match involves Gwent and North East Wales and will be starting at 1pm at the Sports Ground. It is the first time Monmouth Cricket Club has agreed to host a county female fixture and the club's members are looking forward to the match.
