Monmouth Bridge Club is about to embark on a very busy autumn programme of events.
As well as its regular duplicate bridge evenings every Monday and Thursday at Mitchel Troy Village Hall from 7pm to 10pm, which have continued throughout the summer, the club is about to start holding more relaxed afternoons of bridge, every Wednesday afternoon from 2nd September onwards, from 2pm to 4pm at Mitchel Troy Village Hall. These afternoons will be in addition to the Bridge Improvers afternoons (short seminar followed by structured play) held on the first and third Thursdays of each month at Bridges Community Centre from 2pm to 4pm, which will resume on 3rd September after a summer break. Both these sets of afternoon sessions are open to club members and outsiders. Just come along, there is no need to bring a partner. Contact Linda Blunt (Secretary) on 01600 714847 for more information about the Thursday afternoon sessions, and Julie Davies (committee member) on 07977 517818 about the Wednesday sessions.
In addition, the club will be taking part in two countrywide Simultaneous Pairs Competitions, on 7th September (in aid of Wales Air Ambulance) and on 9th November (in aid of Children in Need), a bridge match against Chepstow Bridge Club on 27th October, and Churchill Al Temimi will be holding question and answer bridge sessions before play on alternate Thursday evenings, starting 10th September.
And finally, as this year is the 30th anniversary of the founding of Monmouth Bridge Club, there will be a party evening before Christmas to celebrate the longstanding continuation of this successful and friendly club.
