Monmouth Town's Kingfishers are hoping to finally get a game this Saturday (2nd February) and six times Welsh Champions and one-time conquerors of Portuguese giants Porto are the visitors to the Sports Ground (2pm kick off).
Town haven't played a home game since losing out to Welsh Premier Bala Town in early December but reached the Gwent Senior Cup final in their last game beating Aberbargoed Buds 4-3 but will now look to get their Welsh League title challenge back on track with a win.
The Kingfishers beat the Dragons in their first ever competitive meeting back in October but Barry have since reached the quarter finals of the Welsh Cup and are currently third in Division One, two points clear of Monmouth but having played four games more.
Town, sponsored by WyeMedia, have 18 league games to play with 11 at home and will have been busy during their enforced break strengthening the squad by signing former Middlesbrough, Hereford United and Real Valladolid trainee Chris Hyde and have approached some other key players to strengthen in certain areas.
Meanwhile, last year's keeper Tom Pass has rejoined the club, replacing Lee Williams who has joined Chepstow Town.
In other news, Ross Kennedy has stepped down as reserve team manager despite leading his young team to within touching distance of the top of the table with Dean Palmer taking over duties as he recovers from injury.
Everyone at the club would like to thank Ross for his efforts this season and indeed as a long-serving club member for all his efforts over the years.
A more fitting tribute is being arranged.
