Penallt Tennis Club's junior tournament was divided into two groups according to experience.
The first group was Iori and Eleanor Ellis, Grace Shields and Archie Forbes.
They played a singles round robin. Archie won all three of his matches and won the cup. Iori finished in second place so was awarded the runner-up shield.
The second group was much larger but luckily numbered 12 so an American-style doubles tournament fitted neatly onto the three courts.
There were different partnerships in each round and players also swapped partners half way through each round, thus playing with and against most of the other players.
Taking part were Dan Waterstone, Arran Robbie, Cameron Pardington, Ellen Coombes, Lizzie Widdicks, Ellie Harlow, Huw Longden, Tom Smith, Robbie Mills, Emily Shields, George Handley and Jacob Powell.
Conditions weren't easy, it was dry but there was quite a breeze blowing. In spite of this the youngsters produced some lengthy rallies and some excellent shots.
The totals were very close but Ellie Harlow finished in first place, just one game ahead of Cameron Pardington. He was one game ahead of Robbie Mills, who was one game ahead of Tom Smith and Lizzie Widdicks.
It was good to see so many enthusiastic youngsters enjoying their tennis.
