David Higgins and Craig Drew came away from the recent New England rally somewhat deflated with second overall, just losing out to American rally legend Ken Block in his Monster Energy Fiesta WRC by just six seconds after 148 competitive miles.

The Subaru duo beat the stage bogey on two stages costing them some 17 seconds, while a timing issue on day two cost them any chance of a victory.

The event based over two days started with an opening leg of 52 miles on the Friday evening.

This is where Higgins beat the bogey on two stages by 17 seconds and arrived back at the overnight halt 16 seconds behind Block.

"We are 16 behind Ken but the stage bogey times have cost us 17 seconds, so we should be 1 up, but that's rallying and just shows the pace at the front of the field," said Drew.

On Stage 8 the event took a huge twist when Block took an amazing 30 seconds out of Higgins.

The Team Subaru USA driver was at a lost to explain where Block gained the time, and the American driver now seemed to have an unassailable lead of 43 seconds, but Higgins wasn't finished and set fastest time on all the remaining seven stages to close to just six seconds at the end, although Block was suffering from an alternator problem.

"Stage 8 certainly was the turning point of the event, as we had a good clean run and can't understand where we lost the 30 seconds, but its all to play for now over the remaining rounds, and its going to be a good fight with Ken."

Higgins still holds a 22-point lead going into the next round, the brand new Ojibwe Rally at the end of August.
