Joseph Dunster of Kestrel Gymnastics Club was selected to compete in the Men's Artistic Gymnastics section of Gemau Cymru held at Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff. The eight-year-old was very focussed in the many hours he trained during the weeks leading to the competition, pushing himself to achieve better execution of the required skills, and an excellent performance on all apparatus on the day won Joseph the Gold medal, becoming  Under 9 Elite Level 1 Champion. "Joseph has made great progress since the beginning of the year through sheer determination and hard work to achieve a higher standard, and I am very proud of him," said coach Shirley Lazere-Bennett. "He is now training towards competing in the London Men's Open Championships in September."
