The people of the Forest of Dean seem to have been inspired by London 2012 and we are looking to start or restart their sporting ambitions.
The Forest of Dean Athletics Club have seen an unprecedented level of interest with enquires to their websites, numbers training and new members.
Vice chair Peter Compton said: "We have always been a progressive and welcoming club and it's lovely to see new members from five-year-olds all the way through to 70-year-olds training and competing."
With GB athletes Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis wining gold in front of 80,000 people and millions via the TV, athletics is in the public eye and inspiring people to have a go.
The FoD Athletics Club have been making plans to welcome new people who wish to have a go and have trained six new coaches in the last year to cope with the increasing numbers.
At Five Acres, the club offers sessions for complete beginners who can hardly run a lap, joggers and fun runners to serious sprinters, middle distance and long distance track and road runners as well as high jump, long and triple jump and discus, shot and javelin throwing.
