Centenary and Benevolent Cup Semi Finals
STRONG winds and torrential rain played havoc with the weekend’s fixtures and only one of four cup semi-finals were played to a result.
In the Centenary Cup semi, Underwood SC B won 5-1 at Caldicot Castle B thanks to goals by Jahmal Johnson, James May, Callum Ford, James McManus and Rob Williams with Craig Diffey replying for Castle.
But the clash between Mathern B and Severn Tunnel B was a victim of the weather.
In the Benevolent Cup semi, between Mathern Reserves A and Caldicot Town, referee Carl Arthur called both captains together after just 10 minutes and it was agreed an early hot shower was far more appealing than a further 80 minutes of stinging rain!
The other semi, between Thornwell Red & White and Undy Athletic was also ruled out by the weather, as were all but one of the league matches.
