MATHERN Reserves B lead the way on goal difference from Chepstow Town B following their 5-1 victory over Sudbrook CC.

Goals came from Kyle Gettings (2), Ieaun Jones, Stu Mackie and Jimmy Burchill but manager Jeff Whitehouse admitted he was disappointed at the way his side appeared to ease off once in command.

“We stopped playing good football and tried to force more goals with long balls and we wasted too much possession,” he said.

However, he was pleased with the performances of some of his players.

“I was really happy with our two full backs, Jack Taylor and Alex Bajjada and it was good that a promising youngster like Ieaun Jones scored his first goal for the club.

“He has waited patiently for his chance to start a match and took his goal really well.

“Stu Mackie was outstanding in midfield and also scored his first of the season.”

Elsewhere, Portskewett & Sudbrook shared the points with Severn Tunnel B in a  2-2 draw and Caldicot Castle B showed Severn Tunnel C no mercy, winning 12-1.
