Wyesham father and daughter Tony and Amber Martin have just finished the last round of the 2012 south west region BMX race series.

Tony racing in the 40 to 44 age group in the 24" cruiser class finished in first place after nine rounds.

Amber, racing in the 13 to 14 female age group, finished 6th. They have now qualified for the British championships which is being staged at Broadway house holiday park in Cheddar Somerset on 15th and 16th September.

Mr Martin said: "We have both had a successful season and have picked up some good results on our travels and more importantly kept ourselves injury free."

Amber is going into the championships full of determination to improve on last year's disappointment of being knocked out in the quater finals and Tony will be aiming higher than last year's British number seven spot.

Both Tony and Amber race for Bristol BMX club and are supported by fluid BMX shop of Monmouth.
