"BIGGER and better", that was the public response to Raglan Football Club's annual tournament on Sunday 17th May.

With the 2014/15 East Gwent Junior Youth Association Football League action over, it was time to invite clubs from across Monmouthshire and Gwent to the Station Road ground of Raglan Sports Association and host a football spectacular of 75 matches.

The mix of sides saw some familiar teams from Thornwell, Sudbrook, Usk JFC and Monmouth Town Kingfishers, but the event also enables teams from slightly further afield to enjoy a visit out of area and play teams that can only be met in the tournament period.

More than 250 boys and girls of ages five to 11 were seen giving their all, but there was also a family atmosphere befitting the host village, with the players and their families enjoying the bouncy castle, massive inflatable slide and even a coconut shy.

Building on the event, Raglan Football Club is already looking forward to the 2015/16 season.

With the squad excited about their transition from junior football as under-11s to competitive football as under-12s, the players have chosen to enter the new season as the Raglan Ravens.

On a day when the Ravens gained new players and even a new coach for the forthcoming season, there is a definite positive aura at Raglan Football Club.
