TWO Monmouth TriClub members are to compete for European glory.

Regular Monmouth TriClub members Trish Chalk and Victoria Baker have both made the Great Britain Triathlon Age Group Team for the European Championships this summer.

Trish Chalk has been selected to represent the GB Age Group Team in the European Middle Distance Triathlon in Walchsee, Austria on 4th September. Consisting of a 1.9km open water swim, a 90km road bike and a 21.1km road run, the race promises to be a challenging one.

In the European Standard Distance Triathlon, Victoria Baker has been selected for the GB Age Group Team, to take place in Lisbon, Portugal from 26th to 29th May. This competitive race consists of a 1.5km swim, a 40km bike and a 10km run.

As their training continues to increase up to the competition dates, a proud Monmouth TriClub wishes them the best of luck and support in their respective challenges.

The success of Monmouth TriClub’s representation in the forthcoming European Championships has helped to inspire all members of the club who have again been competing over the weekend. Forrest Jooligan Boon, following his success in the South Wales Winter Hill Series last week, pushed through the poor weather conditions to compete in the Lliswerry eight mile flat road race on Sunday 31st January, and came 68th out of 619 competitors.

In support of all competing members, Monmouth TriClub continues to train in the pool Monday and Thursday evenings at 7pm at Monmouth School Sports Centre and caters for all abilities. There also are regular bike training sessions on Sundays starting out for Monmouth’s Old Monnow Bridge.
