MATHERN FC B completed a satisfying season, according to manager Lee Baker when they beat Caldicot Castle A 7-0 and leapfrogged Severn Tunnel into third place.
"It was good to finish the season with a solid performance and another clean sheet," Baker said.
"We played great football and made loads of chances. Finishing third is an achievement for us and the way we played today is the way we have played all season. It's well deserved and I can't wait for next season already!"
Richie Rees, Wayne Duffield, Harry Ward (2), Harry Lewis, Jack Stewart and Oli Aleman were Mathern's marksmen.
Meanwhile, Underwood consolidated their runners-up place with a 3-1 victory over Tunnel for whom Ethan Addis scored.
In Division 2 Underwood B won the title but will not be promoted as league rules do not allow for two teams from the same club to be in Division 1
The B team – who are due to take on Division 1 champions Sudbrook CC A in the Benevolent Cup Final at Caldicot Town on Friday – clinched the title with a 2-1 home win over Mathern FC B.
"It was a tough game with Mathern giving us a real battle," manager Craig Johnson said.
"But with only a win being enough to win the league, my players dug deep and did what was needed!
"We have been the best team in the Division 2 all season and my players deserve to be league champions."
Jamie Richardson scored both Underwood goals with Jason Johnstone replying for Mathern.
