Monmouth Comprehensive School Boat Club has named two new double sculling racing boats this week after two supporters of the school. Graham Jephcote has been the great energy behind the fund raising in recent years that has enabled the recent purchases.  He has found new sources of funding for the club that do not rely upon the usual parent based sources and local grant awarding bodies, raising thousands of pounds by his own efforts.  By his efforts and those of at the Club who have been inspired by him, MCSBC have been able to purchase a range of equipment that will see young people from Monmouth Comprehensive able to compete against others from across the country for many years to come. Sarah Bradley has personified the supportive parent.  Her vibrant, can do approach to rowing at the school has seen her spend countless cold days (and very few warm ones) on riverbanks across the country as a designated responsible adult.  Her willingness to take a leading role at these events has been a major support for the coaches and helped to ensure the welfare of up to 60 young people at each of the many events across the year. Her further contribution to the club as secretary of the supporting charity, The Friends of Monmouth Comprehensive School Boat Club, underlines her passion to ensure that as many young people as possible get the opportunity to try rowing and develop themselves through the sport of rowing. Monmouth Comprehensive School Boat Club has some 70 racing members, offering many more the opportunity to try out rowing every year.  The club prizes the enjoyment achieved through sport and the success achieved by good honest hard work which helps to develop young people as athletes and members of the community
