RUNNERS who complete this year's Devauden 10k in under an hour will receive a specially designed "Sub Sixty Club" T-shirt as they cross the line on May Bank Holiday Monday 4th May.
In another new initiative for 2015, children, aged 7 to 14, taking part in the 3k, 2k or 1k cross country races will receive a Devauden Races medal, wherever they come and however long it takes.
The £100 prize for any male or female to set a new course record for the 10k is again up for grabs. Last year Chepstow Harrier Katherine Matthew smashed the female course record with a time of 39.54, while Matt Collins' record of 36.05 still stands from his run in 2013.
This will be the 4th running of Devauden Cross Country Races around Chepstow Park Wood, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The 10k is open to anyone 15 and older, and includes a "locals" category for runners from the villages around the Woods. It costs £8 to enter in advance or £12 on the day.
The 1k is for 7 to 8 year olds; the 2k for 9 to 10 year olds, and the 3k for 11 to 12 and 13 to 14 in two categories. All children's races cost £3 to enter.
There's also a return of the highly successful 50m dash for 6 year olds and under who will all get sweets for taking part in the free event.
The winners of all the children's and adults' races and categories, including for the first time the 50m dash, will receive the distinctive tree trophy produced by the Design and Technology Department at Chepstow Comprehensive School, with wood again being donated by ex-Chepstow pupil and MD of Monmouthshire Timber, Chris Worthy.
Money raised by the races will be shared equally between SARA – Severn Area Rescue Association – which provides emergency and first aid cover throughout the events, and Devauden's Hood Memorial Hall.
