THE first weekend of May saw precious little cricket, with the week’s wet weather taking its toll.

One game on Sunday saw Chepstow 1st XI blitzed by an explosive 137 off 57 balls by Glamorgan Royal London Cup winner Steven Reingold at St Fagans in the South Wales Premier T20 Cup.

The hosts raced to 257-4 off their 20 overs, with Reingold's whirlwind innings, including 13 sixes and seven fours, backed up by 66 from Ruaidhri Smith.

Both Chepstow openers then saw their stumps sent flying by Zac Williams with just a single to their name.

And they had hardly recovered when rain intervened with Chepstow only on 14-2 after 6.3 overs.

That brought in Duckworth Lewis, with the visitors well short of the adjusted target of 87.

Sam Rodden and Dan Cordell took three wickets apiece for Usk 3rds away to Taw 1sts in Cardiff, backed by Ross Price and Neil Perrett with braces. as the hosts were dismissed for 175 in 35 overs.

But they were then 145 all out, Cordell top-scoring with 23.
