Monmouth Cricket Club are appealing for girl power this summer.

Coach Tracy Hodgson is keen to offer cricket to girls in Monmouth and the surrounding areas.

Tracy would like to hear from any girls, aged between nine and 15 years old, keen to learn cricket.

The border club are hoping there will be enough interest to run a girls' junior team and dedicated training sessions at Monmouth Cricket Club.

Tracy has just been appointed as the new head coach of the Herefordshire Under-11 girls' county side.

Meanwhile, indoor training for Monmouth's junior sides begins at Monmouth School's sports complex on Thursday 7th February from 5.30pm to 7pm.

Boys and girls, aged from six to 13 years old, are welcome to come along but must contact youth development officer Jon Despontin on 07966015609 or by emailing [email protected]">[email protected]

Monmouth Cricket Club's senior players will be beginning their indoor training next Tuesday (5th February), at Monmouth School sports complex, also between 5.30pm and 7pm.

The club will be using two nets and a bowling machine and the sessions are open to all seniors interested in playing competitively or socially for Monmouth, who are sponsored by JD Wetherspoon and Ancre Hill Vineyard.

Monmouth's two Saturday senior sides will be playing this summer in the Thomas, Carroll Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League Division Three.

They will also be involved in the Macey Cup and on Sundays, with fixtures in the Gwalia Welsh Cricket Cup, the GB Liners Marches Sunday League and friendlies.
