The Master in Charge of Cricket at Monmouth School for Boys has bowled over the town club’s coaches.

Callum Bassett-Jones (pictured above), a Level 3 coach, delivered a fielding masterclass to Monmouth Cricket Club.

He was invited along to share his knowledge – and the session proved very useful to Monmouth Cricket Club’s aspiring coaches.

Callum works with the Cricket Wales age-group sides as part of the Glamorgan County Cricket Club pathway.

Last month, Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools was named among the best in the country for cricket coaching, facilities and provision.

The schools were listed in The Cricketer Schools Guide 2023, which includes the top 100 senior schools in a bumper 156-page supplement.

And next month, Sophia Smale, a Sixth Form student at Monmouth School for Girls, who plays with the boys’ school 1st XI, will be travelling to South Africa in the England Under-19 squad for the inaugural women’s age-group World Cup.

Meanwhile, the 2023 Schools Guide is included alongside the December issue of The Cricketer magazine.
