Monmouth Town Football Club held their annual Junior Awards night at the Sports Ground on Friday 2nd May. Dave Uttley, the Junior chairman, opened the proceedings with some of the highlights of the past season, included Monmouth Town Juniors gaining a Silver Accreditation from the Welsh FA for the first time, and that the Junior section is the biggest Junior Club in the East Gwent region with over 220 registered players, with teams represented in every age group from U6 to U16 – an achievement the club is extremely proud of. The Junior Football Club has improved their coaching credentials over the season with another eight coaches gaining a UEFA C coaching qualification, this means that the club is able to offer the highest standard of coaching throughout all age groups. Monmouth Town Juniors continues to build strong links with local businesses. The football club took the opportunity to thank them all for sponsoring the children over the past season – Paws Pet Shop, The Elms Veterinary Surgery, Rockfield Property Service, Sliding Sash Solutions, Evans of Monmouth and Monmouthshire Conservatory Company have all played a part in making the club a success. Onto the awards, and the boys and girls from every age group received a medal for their efforts throughout the season. Coaches then presented awards to the most improved players in their squads. The age group winners were U6 Oliver Kelsall, U7 Harry Williams, U8 Alfie Bowen, U9 Bethan Keane, U10 Daniel Bodenham, U11 Ethan Bates, U12 Jacob Perrella, U13 Jacob Dover and U14 Tamer Pullen. The 'Kevin Johnson' Shield for the most overall improved junior player went to U7 Harry Williams. A thoroughly enjoyable evening ended with a series of parents v kids games.
