Monmouth Tri Club have announced details of the first Challenge Aquathlon – a swim in the beautiful River Wye and off-road run, alongside the river, on a multi-terrain course. This idyllic course, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is sure to become one of the highlights of the Tri Club's events across the UK. Monmouth Tri Club have created this very special event to take place on the morning of Monmouth Carnival, Sunday 27th July, part of the annual Monmouth Festival. Monmouth Tri Club are being sponsored by Jewel Balti for this event. To provide a variety of challenges, there are three adult races to choose from and two junior races (subject to age) to enter, depending on how challenging or hard you would like to push yourself. All the races share the same finish, and there will be full chip timing for all categories. Adults – for adults and young athletes 17 or over Swim open-water in the River Wye. Change into running gear and run a single-lap course mainly on riverbank footpaths on fields and through woods. Choose from: Full Challenge – 2k open-water swim and 10k run Downstream Challenge – 1k open-water swim and 10k run Challenge Run – 11k run For children and young athletes 16 or under Swim in the Monmouth School Sports Centre indoor pool. Then change into running gear at the sports centre to complete your run.
