A Monmouth teacher has won a gold medal at the World Aquathlon Championships.
Caroline Jones, who teaches PE at Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls, became the World Aquathlon Champion in her age group on 11th September.
A former World Champion Triathlete, Mrs Jones also coaches the 1st VII netball team.
A working mother, who trains early in the mornings before most of us are out of bed, she certainly knows what it takes to be a champion.
The World Aquathlon Championships consists of a 1km swim followed by a 5km run, with the transition between the two disciplines forming a vital part of the event.
The event took place in Hyde Park, the scene of Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee's stunning performances in the Olympic Games just 13 months ago.
Having won the National Championships in August, Mrs Jones had high hopes of taking a medal and was delighted to win the age group title against a very competitive international field.
