Monmouth Cricket Club's Under-11 team recorded a 59-run home win over Malpas at the Sports Ground.

The team bounced back from a narrow three-run defeat at Sudbrook to secure a comfortable win last Sunday (22nd July) in the Monmouthshire Building Society Junior League.

Skipper Ben Davies, Cameron Pardington and seven-year-old Harry Hughes took wickets, while fine fielding from Ben Pilot and wicketkeeper Cameron Ogilvie led to a run-out.

Josh Lewis and Finlay Waters also did very well in the field for Monmouth.

Malpas closed on a nett total of 236 for four from their 16 overs in this eight-a-side pairs' cricket Premier Division clash.

In reply, Gwent Under-10 player Davies top scored with 13 not out as Monmouth lost just one wicket and closed on a nett score of 295 for one from their 16 overs.

There were fine batting displays from Cameron Ogilvie (nine not out), Cameron Pardington (nine not out), Ben Pilot (eight not out), Ethan Gale (five not out), Harry Hughes (four not out), Finlay Waters (four not out) and Josh Lewis (four).

In last Thurday's match at Sudbrook, Monmouth were edged out in a thriller.

Monmouth posted 239 for one and the Caldicot outfield replied with 242 for three, with Ben Davies and Cameron Pardington claiming wickets for the visitors.

Monmouth Under-11s are in action tomorrow (Thursday) with a home match against Sudbrook, 6pm start, before hosting Newbridge at the Sports Ground on Sunday morning, 10.30am start.
