Dive into the festive season at Blenheim Palace with its biggest-ever Christmas.
From early November and throughout December, visitors can explore festive trails, take to the Christmas ice rink and enjoy seasonal adventures, all set against the backdrop of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and its sweeping Capability Brown parkland.
The palace - at Woodstock in Oxfordshire - was the birthplace of one of Britain’s most famous leaders, Sir Winston Churchill. With over 300 years of history, it is known as ‘Britain’s Greatest Palace’.
From Friday, November 13 to Sunday, January 3, Blenheim will be hosting its biggest collection of installations to date, with Cinderella Inside The Palace, the ever-popular Illuminated Trail, the Great Skate and the Christmas Market.
Cinderella Inside The Palace
This Christmas, Blenheim Palace is lavishly decorated and transformed into the magical fairy tale of Cinderella by a BAFTA award-winning team of designers. From the moment visitors step into the Great Hall, welcomed by a twinkling tree, they walk through a larger-than-life storybook into a glittering world, wandering through State Rooms filled with mistletoe, holly and baubles. As midnight strikes and the clocks all chime, a glass slipper leads Prince Charming to a happy-ever-after Christmas wedding like no other, and visitors can meet Cinderella herself.
A Cinderella Inside The Palace ticket also serves as an Annual Pass, giving visitors a full year of return access to Blenheim Palace beyond the festive season, adding lasting value to a single booking.
The Illuminated Trail
Out in the gardens, as twilight falls, treetops glisten and waterfalls shimmer. The Illuminated Trail, boasting more than a million lights, offers an unforgettable after-dark adventure immersed in seasonal song, shared with friends and family, and including a glimpse of Father Christmas himself.
New features on the trail for 2026 include:
- Fire and Ice - a major synchronised light and special-effects show created by Ithaca Studio and Sense Effects, supported by Culture Creative’s Lighting Team. Streams of fiery orange and icy blue light sweep across the ground towards a central tree before erupting into fountains of flame, water and beams of light.
- The Butterfly Tree - an illuminated sculpture rising more than ten metres into the night sky, adorned with glowing butterflies, forming a striking photo opportunity at the start of the trail.
- The Christmas Disco - a 28-metre installation combining a colourful illuminated dance space with suspended mirror balls, light effects and projected graphics, set to an uplifting seasonal soundtrack.
- The Christmas Snow Globe - a new installation evoking the magic of standing inside a giant illuminated snow globe, complete with sparkling patterns, colours and additional snow effects along the route.
Returning favourites include the illuminated tunnel, the giant illuminated peonies and the water fountain show.
The Great Skate & Christmas Market
Back for a third year, the Great Skate invites visitors to skate on real ice across a covered rink within the historic Great Court, set against the backdrop of Blenheim Palace.
The outdoor Christmas Market runs from Friday 13th November to Sunday 20th December. Featured among the top ten UK seasonal markets year after year, it offers a variety of hand-picked gifts made by designers and craftspeople, alongside seasonal food, sweet treats, mulled wine and hot chocolate beside the covered ice rink.
With limited capacity and timed entry, spaces are filling quickly. Early booking is strongly recommended to secure a preferred date and time.
