On Thursday November 10, Monmouth RFC Under 13 Tigers took on an immense challenge to fundraise for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity.

They took part in a virtual cycle ride at Monmouth RFC Clubhouse, cycling the equivalent distance between Monmouth to Bargoed and back – approximately 76 miles!

The reason behind their fundraising is, in October during a Dragons Cup game between the Tigers and Bargoed Under 13, Bargoed Fullback, Dylan Morgan suffered a head injury.

After initial checks, it become clear that the injury was not straightforward.

Dylan’s condition quickly deteriorated, resulting in him requiring the assistance of Wales Air Ambulance.

Dylan was rushed to hospital in Cardiff where he received life-saving brain surgery which uncovered an underlying problem – Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM).

Dylan received amazing care at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital in Cardiff and has since made brilliant progress in his journey to recovery.

The fixture was replayed on Sunday November 13, where Dylan and his family were able to watch the game.

“We were very proud to stand alongside Bargoed Under 13 and support Dylan.

‘‘It was absolutely amazing to see him at the game. He lifted his teammates, as they played brilliantly and deserved the win” said David Lalley, team manager of Monmouth Tigers.

“We wish Bargoed all the best for the remainder of the season and we hope they go on and win the Dragon’s Cup for Dylan”.

Stuart Paterson, chairman of Monmouth Young Rugby commented: “We are extremely proud of our Under 13 Tigers, who have shown immense courage whilst raising money for such a worthy cause”,
