A TEAM of budding Monmouth entrepreneurs have come up with a way to unite the town’s independent shops.
Josh Werrett and Elliot Foulkes are part of a group of 14 students from Monmouth School that have come up with the idea of Blue Resolution: a discount card that offers 10% discount at a number of independent shops around Monmouth.
The scheme, part of the Government organised Youth Enterprise scheme, has seen the group sell 30 of the cards. Adopters of the scheme can currently receive the discount at Mono, Shirtbox, Car Care, the Pocket Bakery, Granny Browns and Munday and Jones, with many more under negotiation.
The scheme relies on one thing- making money- and the enterprising group have already thought of ways to raise money from a Christmas fair and a carboot sale where they sell the cards.
Josh said: “The Youth Enterprise scheme helps kids and young people get experience in business.
“We conducted a questionnaire to judge interest and found 89 people interested.
“The majority of stores were interested, and even those who weren’t generally already had discount schemes of their own already. We’ve had a really positive response.”
Cards are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for under 18s. To purchase a Blue Information card, visit www.blueresolution.co.uk or email [email protected]
