Wyesham Wanderers 1 Caldicot Castle 2

A woeful first half display saw Wyesham lose to an improved Castle team at the showground on Saturday.

The visitors started the game well retaining possession and creating space. Wyesham showed plenty of battle and determination but poor passing and an inability to keep the ball cost them.

A cool finish from a Caldicot striker put the visitors ahead on the 18th minute. Castle continued to press and looked for openings and would have scored more if not for a strong display from the Wanderers defence.

Before the first half finished Wyesham's James Meredith had to pull off a couple of smart saves and both of the Wanderers centre backs made goal saving challenges.

With Wyesham creating only one real chance in the first half, the second half could only get better for them, and it did. Wyesham came out in the second half and instantly looked stronger, passing the ball well, creating space and making chances.

Caldicot managed to restrain the Wyesham resurgence and scored a second against the run of play. Sloppy defending from a caldicot corner gifted an unmarked Castle player an easy header.

Wyesham however kept battling and working hard and were given a life line in the 80th minute when some great one touch passing created the space for Gary Miles to finish from a tight angle.

The goal proved to be too little too late for Wyesham and their first half display condemned them to their second home defeat.

Wyesham would like to thank Valley Construction Ltd and Eagle Plant for their continued support, they are also grateful to the supporters who braved the cold weather to see the game.  Grounds maintenance - Wellingtons Garden Services.
