SIR,
In response to the attack on me by Christopher
Were ('Proposal doesn't hold water', 10th
February), if he had been at the planning
meeting on 19th January and full council
meeting on 28th January, he would have
heard myself and other councillors attacking
the proposed Local Development Plan, and in
particular the target site at Wonastow Road.
We can all take words out of context, but the
people who bothered to contact me, prior to
the council meeting, know my true feelings
and my suggested plan of action.
The target sites in the proposed Local
Development Plan are out for consultation for
the next six weeks, and local residents are
requested to send their responses to Martin
Davies at the MCC Planning Department, by
writing to martindavies@monmouthshire.
gov.uk.
I do know the proposed site, which is why I
spoke against it – so to receive such an attack,
one has to question the motive. Mr Were
should talk to his county councillor, from
whom he would get the true facts.
Alan Wintle
(County councillor, Drybridge Ward)
