SIR,
Referring to the recent letters in the Beacon concerning the 400 houses to be built on Wonastow Road. This is a flood plain area. Policy 25 states that you cannot build houses on flood plains, and also that you cannot build any government buildings on flood plains.
If planning permission is given for these houses, it will effect all car parks in Monmouth (as these are already full), the doctors' surgeries (for which it takes two weeks to get an appointment) and schools (as 400 houses would mean an extra 800 children). At least 1,200 people needing medical care, and 800 more cars.
I have been in touch with the planning division of the Welsh Assembly to withdraw the application, and for the planning application to decide whether to give planning or not.
Letters are also going to George Ashworth of Monmouthshire County Council from our group, and from Derek Rowe, UKIP parliamentary candidate for the Monmouth constituency.
