Monmouth Netball Club's first team had their first match of the season against Newport side Atlanta A, who they had close games against last season with both teams coming away with a win.

Captain Emma King was hopeful they would start the new season with a win after a difficult season last year, especially as the squad is almost back to its prime.

Monmouth took their time to get into the game and gel as a team ending the first quarter down by three goals.

Defending trio Kate Hapgood, Lisa English and Rebecca Price working tirelessly to put pressure on Atlanta's shooters and managed to turn over several balls to gain possession for Monmouth and at half-time Monmouth had managed not to let the opposition extend their lead any further.
