The Beacon's calendar competition is in full swing. To get involved, all you need to do is send in your best photograph of the county's countryside, and you could be in with the chance of winning one of three great prizes. The best picture we receive in June will win a three-day family explorer pass to a Cadw-run historical attraction anywhere in Wales. Next month, you have the chance to win free entrance to Wyndcliffe Court in St Arvans and tea for two and in August the prize will be two entry tickets to Chepstow Racecourse. All pictures we receive will be in with a chance of being included in the calendar itself. With the sun shining (occasionally) across the county, now is your chance to snap your favourite corner of Monmouthshire, or select your favourite past picture, and share it with Beacon readers. The 2015 calendar will be raising money towards the Prince of Wales' Countryside Fund, which gives grants and advice to projects that help support the people who care for the countryside across the UK. The fund provides grants of up to £50,000 to projects that are tackling one of five key issues. Grants aim to improve service provision in rural areas, support rural enterprise, support farming businesses, provide training opportunities for young people, and educate people about the value of the countryside. So far, the charity has donated £3.87 million in grants, supported more than 87 projects across the UK and helped more than 64,000 people since 2010. Start sending in your photos this month. A prize for the best photograph will be awarded in June, July and August. All photographs entered will go forward to be considered for the calendar.
