The Magor Marsh open day event, organised by Gwent Wildlife Trust and due to take place this Saturday (21st July), has been cancelled.

Following inspection of our waterlogged Magor Marsh reserve, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel.

The ground is so waterlogged at the moment, that with more rain forecast over the coming few days, the reserve will not be able to dry out sufficiently for the open day to continue safely (we are not prepared to put people's health, safety and vehicles at risk).

Holding such an event in these conditions would also have a devastating impact on the sensitive wildlife and habitats here.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but we hope you understand our decision and will be able to join us for a similar event in the Autumn (date to be confirmed).
