Regarding the article on street furniture, (‘Another burden for local traders.’ 19th October) I am interested to know why businesses have to pay for health and safety?

Isn’t it enough to just tell them their rights?

Possibly not, as the council seem bent on getting rid of money from anywhere they can; does this mean shopping in Monmouth will be expensive, because businesses wil just pass on the costs?
