SIR,

In the last few months we in Monmouth have had three serious incidents that have left us both surprised and outraged.

All three have involved our ambulance service. The first is the tragic death of a young woman who may have survived if an ambulance had arrived sooner.

The second incident is of an elderly woman of (I believe) 91, who collapsed outside of the Green Dragon Inn while on her way home and lay on the floor for a long time waiting for an ambulance.

Finally a senior woman from Wyesham apparently dislocated her hip as she stepped up to her front door and fell back into her garden recently. I believe that she made three calls to the emergency services and only the final call was passed to the ambulance.

No-one will blame the ambulance personnel for the total lack of communication but there is something seriously wrong and badly managed about our ambulance service.

Where are the ambulances?

Ron Bradley
