A stampede of fundraisers has helped to make Wales' first-ever Wiseman Welly Walk a huge success.

The event, which took place across the Severn Bridge on Sunday (16th September) raised over £12,000 for St Anne's Hospice.

More than 250 men, woman, children wearing everything from black and white wellies to full blown cow costumes completed the route.

Friesian fashion was to the fore with cow suits and other bovine themed accessories proving to be very popular.

Lots of families wore Wiseman Wellies – the East Kilbride-based dairy's famous cow print boots which have become a firm favourite with festival-goers.

The company's Sales Manager Jan Anderson said, "Whilst our day job is processing and distributing almost a third of Britain's fresh milk, our staff have been terrific in helping organise this event. Our Wiseman Welly Walks have raised tens of thousands of pounds for Hospices all over the UK and we are delighted with the response we have had in Wales."

Terry Woodsford, Fundraising Manager at St Anne's Hospice said, "On behalf of everyone at St Anne's Hospice I'd like to say a huge thank you to all who took part and helped raise funds in support of the Hospice. The day has been a wonderful success and special thanks go out to Robert Wiseman Dairies for their fantastic support in helping us put on this fabulous event."

The Hospice's 24-hour, 365-day year care is provided free of charge and although part-funded by the NHS, this year the Hospice will need to raise 35 per cent of its running costs from voluntary donations.

Wiseman Welly Walk participants stayed on after their walk to enjoy a barbecue and entertainment for the children.
