SIR,
Although not a Royalist as such myself, I am amazed there are no current plans for any kind of celebration of the forthcoming Royal Wedding.
After all, it is the Prince of Wales who is getting married and as a Welsh town that is quick to brag of previous Royal connections it is baffling we have yet to jump on the bandwagon.
Perhaps the good people of Monmouth will take it upon themselves to at least organise an en masse picnic on Chippenham fields, a Barbecue with neighbours and family or apply to the council at this late stage for a street party on the 29th April.
Even if you don't watch the TV coverage, at least get together and celebrate an extra bank holiday this year in style.
