A cordon was put in place at a waste disposal site in Caerwent on Friday (27th September) after a grenade was found by a member of staff.

Police were called to the county council site at Five Lanes, Lanvaches near Caerwent at 12.27pm after the grenade was discovered. Anyone within 100m of the device was evacuated from the area and a cordon was put in place.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, (EOD) attended the scene and found the device to be a training grenade, thought to have been left by a member of the public in bag of garden waste. They reopened the site at 2.30pm.
