SIR,
This letter is to alert the residents of Overmonnow that MCC, in their wisdom, are proposing to change the ward boundaries which in effect will put Drybridge Street, Cinderhill, Goldwire Lane and Kings Fee in the town ward.
This will tear the heart out of Overmonnow, St Thomas Church and church hall will also be in the town ward.
Historically and aesthetically this ancient settlement has always been separate from the town by virtue of the River Monnow, hence, 'Overmonnow'.
At one time it had its own mayor, it's a village beyond the town.
Many residents were born and bred in Overmonnow as were their parents and they are proud to say they come from Overmonnow.
Apparently the reasoning behind this is to accommodate the residents of the new, proposed development off Wonastow Road, if or when this goes ahead.
It is up to the residents who wish to remain in the Overmonnow ward to write, ring or email MCC; and register their objections to this proposal.

County Councillor Sue White
