Graham Waite and co-driver Gill Cotton stormed to a emphatic category one victory in the magnificent Volvo Amazon by over six minutes on last weekend's Colin McRae Forest stages, the final round of the Dunlop/Wanago British Historic Rally Championship.

The result also means Waite jointly wins the Waterend Properties gravel cup with BHRC champion David Stokes.

From the Aberfeldy town centre start, 51 miles in the classic Scottish forests of Craigvinean, Errochty and Drummond Hill were on offer.

Rain and fog greeted crews as they headed into the opening test. Waite caught and passed rival Dessie Nutt but was 40 seconds down on championship front runner Rikki Profitt in his Porsche 911.

Twelve miles of Drummond Hill was next, this stage is not for the faint hearted.

Waite took 32 seconds back off Profitt, he then set sixth fastest overall on the 13-miler in Errochty to take a commanding lead in category one.
