Vintage Vision has organised a 'Sew a dress for Africa' day on Saturday 27th September at Chepstow to make clothing for children. "We welcome everyone from absolute beginners to those more experienced at sewing," said Vintage Vision chairman Amanda Peters. "Just bring along a pillowcase and we'll provide everything else. "At the end of the day we hope to have a pile of children's dresses that our partners, Swansea-based Dawnus construction, will be taking out to Sierra Leone for us free of charge. "It will be a fun day for a good cause – and there will be free tea and cake. Come along for the day or just drop in at any time." A tutor has been engaged to teach basic sewing skills, how to use a sewing machine, or help with hand sewing applique. Vintage Vision volunteers will also be available to assist. "If you are brilliant at sewing already just come along and show us what you can do," added Amanda. The event will be held between 10am and 4pm at Bulwark Community Centre. A similar event will be held on the same day in the former Abergavenny Tourist Information Centre, next to the town's bus station. Vintage Vision is a not for profit social enterprise based in a Blaenavon shop and working across South Wales organising classes, vintage fayres, talks and workshops on restyling textiles. The next Vintage Fayre will be held in Abergavenny Market Hall on Sunday 2nd November, with the usual mix of vintage fashion, accessories and homeware together with music, vintage cafe and a children's dressing up area, and hopefully, some live dancing demonstrations. It takes place between 10am and 4pm and admission is free. For more details visit http://www.vintagevision.co.uk">www.vintagevision.co.uk or call 07818168955.
