OLYMPIC silver medallist Tom Lucy has been given a rousing welcome home by his family and friends.

Penyclawdd and Llangovan Village Hall Committee, led by Ray Parry, and Raglan Community Council held a party in their village hall to celebrate Tom Lucy's Olympic silver medal.

About 120 people gathered for a hog roast and refreshments provided by the committee and enjoyed music from the Irish band Henry Marten's Ghost. . Guests from Monmouth School included Headmaster Stephen Connors and his wife, Head of Rowing, David Blackham and Tom's former rowing coach, Rob Howe and his family.

Tom was delighted to make a presentation to Rob of an Olympic kit, signed by the rowing squad in recognition of the huge influence he has had in Tom's success.

There was also a similar kit for the Monmouth School Boat Club where Tom's career began. A collection for the Army Benevolent Fund raised £120.
