Ross Cricket Club U15s played their final Leadon Vale league match on Monday July 16th at home, beating local rivals Aston Ingham. Both teams were very keen to play due to the large number of matches lost recently because of the bad weather. Between the showers and darkening skies Ross won the toss and elected to bat. They soon managed to build a fine total with Bruno Warwick, David Skyrme, Aaron Tregaskes and James Tiffin each reaching the set 20 run retirement target. In their allotted 20 overs Ross amassed 146 runs to set up a tough challenge for the visitors. The Aston Ingham opening batsmen started out well. A great knock by number 3 batsman M Merrett, who scored a quick 24 (retired), ensured that the visitors kept up with the run rate. However the Ross bowlers soon began to turn the screw with some accurate bowling. Promising spin bowler, James Tiffin, came out on top with 3 wickets in his second over. All Ross bowlers were well supported by an excellent attacking fielding performance which saw a total of 7 catches and one run out. After their decent start to the innings Aston Ingham experienced a dramatic collapse from 80 for 4 wickets to 89 all out. Ross won by 57 runs.
